Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is "spirituality"? What is "spiritual development"? Spirituality may mean different things in different traditions. To us, it refers to the process by which we come to live more fully, joyfully, and mindfully. Spirituality involves being present to each moment of our lives and of everything that is happening both within and around us. It also involves the cultivation of such qualities as gratitude, compassion, generosity, and acceptance. A spiritual practice is any activity that helps to develop or cultivate spirituality. Hundreds of practices may fall within this category. Some - such as meditation, yoga, prayer, and fasting - arise from particular religious traditions. These and many novel practices can transform our experience of life if we practise them with patience over time. Want to get started right away? See our list of some simple spiritual practices. Spiritual development is accessible to atheists and theists alike. One need not believe in God to learn to live with greater wholeness and meaning. Casual dress is fine. If special clothing or materials are required, it will be stated in the programme description.
The programmes offered by The London Spirituality Network are supported by participating Unitarian congregations. We do this because part of our purpose for being is to help all people to achieve greater joy and wholeness and in this way to help create a better world for all. Please see the "about us" page of this web site. The programmes are led by Unitarian ministers. Unitarians are non-creedal and welcome diverse theological and philosophical perspectives. |
