We work as a couple, blending our talents to create a friendly and positive dance experience for those who join our dance sessions. Chris tends to focus mainly on guitar-playing and teaching the melody, and Janet focusses on the movements and meaning of each Dance.

We've been doing the Dances since 2009, becoming completely hooked as soon as we experienced them. We found them to be incredibly transformative and healing, and felt that we wanted to learn how to pass this on to others. We're currently on Philip O'Donohoe's two-year course for trainee Dance Leaders. Our Dance Mentors are Wali and Arienne van der Zwan (who are Dutch, but who now live in Germany). We find their style of shared leading to be extremely inspirational, so we model our style of leading on them quite a good deal.

We are both initiated Sufis (with the Sufi Ruhaniat International) - Chris's teacher is Wali van der Zwan, and Janet's is Saadi Neil Douglas-Klotz.

We are particularly drawn to Islamic-themed Dances, and the Aramaic Dances of Saadi Neil Douglas-Klotz. For us, the Dances are such a powerful vehicle for personal development and enjoyment that we like to focus solely on the Dances at our events, rather than mix them with other practices. We welcome beginners as well as experienced dancers to our dance sessions.

We live in Staffordshire, at the foot of the Peak District, although we are not averse to travelling the length of the UK to attend a Dance event (on several occasions!). Being both self-employed and working from home, we can be flexible in our approach to 'work', and are able to devote a lot of time to the Dances. Our other interests include gardening and alternative health, as well as playing music and creating websites (Chris) and embroidery and dressmaking (Janet).

We have already been invited to lead sessions of Dances of Universal Peace at Leicester, Derby, Congleton and Newcastle-under-Lyme. If you would like us to share some Dances with your group, please get in touch to discuss the details. We are prepared to travel, and only require our out of pocket expenses to be paid.
